SUNNY DAYS,
SWEEPING THE CLOUDS AWAY....
ON MY WAY
TO WHERE THE AIR IS SWEET!
CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO GET,
HOW TO GET TO SESAME STREET!!!!

I totally grew-up with the beleoved PBS program and I plan to show it to my kids one day. It's humours, educational, cute, and awesome! The characters are timeless, and even though it's tailored towards young kids some grown-ups still love it too! (After all, grown ups are the ones producing the show. ^^) I bet the puppeteers have a blast with all the skits they do!

Anyway, I found this site with some tidbits and facts about SS in lieu of its 40th Anniversary!

(The Start of its 40th season premiers today! November 10th! YAY!)

ENJOY!

(Some trivia pulled from the site)

The Show:
When creator Jim Henson died in 1990, the show stopped producing new sketches featuring Kermit the Frog. He only appeared in reruns of old sketches until 1998, when he popped up to do a Sesame Street News Flash when Oscar the Grouch's pet worm Slimy went into space. He appeared again in 2001, reporting on a hurricane with Al Roker.

'Sesame Street' has won more than 100 Emmy Awards, more than any other television show in the United States.

In 2002, producers of a South African version of 'Sesame Street' announced the addition of an HIV-positive Muppet named Kami to address the growing number of people (including kids) with the virus in that part of the world. However, Kami wasn't gay; he contracted the virus through a blood transfusion as an infant.

Some Muppets were canned over the years for interesting reasons: Don Music, the pianist who banged his head against the piano in frustration, was dropped after kids at home started doing the same thing. Harvey Kneeslapper was cut loose because his signature laugh was too much of a strain on Frank Oz's vocal chords. Roosevelt Franklin was considered to be a negative cultural stereotype (he was the only African American Muppet at the time and was seen mostly in detention after school). Professor Hastings, a teacher whose lectures were so dull that even he fell asleep, was discontinued because ... he was too dull.

'Sesame Street' was originally designed for inner-city kids to help them learn English.

Divorce has never been fully dealt with on the show, because the producers couldn't come up with a story that didn't lead children in test audiences to worry about their own parents getting divorced.

Big Bird:
Big Bird is 8'2" tall.

He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994.

Big Bird's teddy bear is named "Radar" after the character from 'MASH' who always slept with a teddy bear.

He's generally referred to as a canary, but reports as to his lineage vary. While visiting 'Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood,' he told King Friday XIII, "Actually, I'm a golden condor." During an appearance on 'Hollywood Squares,' he told Peter Marshall that he was a lark, and he's also been referred to as part homing pigeon.

Big Bird almost never got Mr. Hooper's last name right, often calling him Mr. Looper or other rhyming words like "scooper" and "pooper" (thus endearing himself to four-year-olds everywhere).

According to the book 'Sesame Street Unpaved,' Big Bird's nest contains a bubble gum dispenser, a clock with no hands, a feather duster, a football helmet, a golf bag with one club, a hurricane lamp, a megaphone, a picture of Mr. Hooper, a Roman bust, a tricycle wheel, a watering can, an old record player, an umbrella, a mailbox, and a pair of snowshoes. Other objects not listed in the book include a small wooden alphabet sign, a jack-and-balls game, a picture of his cousin Abelardo, and a pull-string lamp.

Big Bird's bookshelf contains 'March of Democracy,' ';P-reface to P-hilosophy,' ';P-rinciples of Chemistry,' and 'Shattered Lamp.' One of the windows of Susan and Gordon's apartment looks into his nest, and Susan has been a surrogate mother to him over the years.

Caroll Spinney has played the part of Big Bird since 1969, though as he's gotten older, others have been trained to play the part, including Matt Vogel. The performer is completely enclosed within the costume and extends his right hand over his head to operate the head and neck of Big Bird. The Muppeteer's left hand serves as Bird's left hand, while the right hand is stuffed and hangs loosely from a fishing line that runs through a loop under the neck and attaches to the wrist of the left hand.

Other Characters:
In 2004, Cookie Monster revealed that before trying cookies for the first time, his name was Sid.

The shoe size of Snuffy Snuffleupagus is 65 GGG.

Some old Bert and Ernie skits showed Ernie having his own bedroom instead of sharing a bedroom with Bert. (Yes, there was that whole "are they gay?" movement there for a while.)

Ernie wears horizontal stripes on his sweater to make him appear more relaxed; Bert wears vertical stripes on his sweater to make him appear more uptight.

The Neighborhood:
The left-side door in the front of 123 Sesame Street has never been opened. Big Bird once tried to get Snuffy into the building; when it turned out that Snuffy couldn't fit through just one door, Big Bird explained that the other door was "locked."

To answer that immortal question, here's how to get to Sesame Street: Take the "R" or "V" train to Steinway Street. Stay on back of train. Walk west on 34th Avenue, three blocks to 36th Street. Turn left on 36th Street. The entrance to Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens is mid-block (between 34th & 35th Avenues).

-------

(Also, the guy who plays Big Bird does the voice of Oscar the Grouch as well! ^^)

(Oscar's feet have been seen from the bottom of his trash can from time to time to get him around Sesame Street. He has later been seen outside his trashcan completely in skits such as GNN: Grouch News Network).

HOORAY, HAPPY 40TH SS!!! :airborne:  :bounce: :iconcheerplz:

OMG.....is all I can say.

I mean....wow...

It was interesting, creative, awesome, intense... it was...IT!!!

I mean, when you watch the film, you gotta think, it was originally meant to be performed LIVE at the O2. And when you think about THAT....this really was meant to be the concert of the century. No doubt!!

My favorite part has to be when they rehearsed "Thriller," and you'll see why if you watch it. ^^

I loved it, I really did.

I'm not one of those diehard, obsessive MJ fan...but man, I'm telling you, I really liked this film! i like MJ and this film did him justice I think.

And Michael, you get to see his creative mind at work.
Even when he was ordering people around to make sure the counts and everything were right, he was nice about it. ^u^

And his dancing was awesome....i mean, it always has been. But for a man of 50, he still had it! :iconyayzplz:

If you love MJ, go see the movie. You won't be sorry. I won't spoil it. But it has his best Number 1 hits in it!

THIS IS IT!!

RIP KING OF POP
WE LOVE YOU!

This thought just hit me...

Does anyone out there watch Phineas and Ferb?

If so, you probably know that Ferb has a crush on Vanessa, Doufenshmerf's daughter.

I think this is cute, even though there's like a Gihugic age difference (he's like 9 and she's like what, 15?)

Buuuut....dun, dun...

If Ferb somehow used Doufenshmerf's....AGINATOR!!! XD He could make himself older and date Vanessa!! :iconyayzplz:

So, HAI! In my little world of imagination that's what he does! ^^ I think Ferb is mega awesome and that his crush on Vanessa is so cute! ^u^ :giggle:

M'kay, I'm done.

It's late and I've gotta get like less than 5 hours of sleep in before going to shoot footage of a parade tomorrow. Peace out!

G'night guys!! =D

ME: It's the moment you've all been excited about! My long awaited interview with the Chipettes! Now,we've seen the teaser trailer and the first official trailer, and we know what the Chipettes look like in the new movie! So now it's time for us to get down to details and interview the three lucky ladies who will star along side those 3 guy munks in their new movie! Also known as the Chipmunks' costars, best friends, and often...erm...girlfriends.

Chipettes: *Blush*

ME: Ladies and Gentleman, it gives me great pleasure to introduce THE CHIPETTES: Eleanore, Jeanette, and Brittany Miller!

Eleanore: Hi! ^^ Nice to meet you all!

Jeanette: We're very happy to be here! *adjusts her glasses* ^^

Eleanore: Right Brittany?

Brittany: *with a pink shawl over her head and wearing pink shades, looks around* Ugh, where is Orlando Bloom? They told me that he would be here! That's the only reason I came!

Me: Um...Orlando Bloom isn't here Brittany.

Brittany: WHAT?!! B-but, he was supposed to be! I mean I was told...

Me: Oo...who told you?

Brittany: Why Alvin of co-.....OO...ALLLLLLVIN!!!

Alvin: *Backstage* HAHAHAHAHAAA! XD You shoulda seen your face!

Brittany: I'LL MURDER YOU SEVILLE! ><

Jeanette: *Face palm* Oh Brittany...*shakes head*

Eleanore: *grabs Brittany around the waist, holding her back*

Brittany: I can't STAND him!

Jeanette/Eleanore: We know....

Me: Uhm, so girls! What was your reaction when you found out that you would be in the sequel?

Eleanore: Oh! We were very excited!!^^ We've always enjoyed doing movies with the boys in the past so this was a real treat!

Jeanette: Yes, especially in our new style! It was quite interesting to try the new outfits they had us wear. *holds out her arms and legs* I mean, I-I'm used to wearing such baggy clothing, but not so much in the film, so it was a nice break from routine. ^^

Me:  What about you Brittany?

Brittany: I just wanted Alvin to know that the movie would not be ALL ABOUT HIM this time. I mean, after all, they brough me and my girls in for a reason. *looks at her nails* It's OUR time to shine, you know? I don't care if it IS "Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakuel," the truth is, it's all about US Chipettes!

Me: Erm...right...well, how does hit movie differ from the episode explaining your backstory?

Eleanore: Oh, we can't tell you that, it'd ruin the surprise. ^_~ :giggle:

Me: Understandable. ^^ But we have seen that you guys are dancing to more modern songs as well, such as Single Ladies by Beyonce.

Brittany: Oh yes, she didn't mind at all! She said she was thrilled to have one of her songs "chipmunked" as we used to do all the time back in the 80s and 90s.

Jeanette: O-oh! And there'll be some more modern songs that we dance and sing too, definitely!

Me: I also have read that recently, screenshots of the new Squeakuel videogame for the Wii has been released, and it looks like you girls do quite a few dance moves there too!

Brittany: Oh yes, we definitley know how to get down, better than the boys; that's for sure.

Alvin: *backstage* IN YOUR DREAMS MILLER!

Brittany: *yells back* WHY DON'T YOU COME SAY THAT TO MY FACE SEVILLE!

Jeanette/Eleanore: *eyeroll*

Me: Speaking of the boys...in the teaser trailer you girls seem to be in awe when you first see them, almost like..."love at first sight?"

Jeanette/Eleanore: O/////O E-erm...well...

Brittany: *still arguing with Alvin*

Me: Um...Brittany....Brittany...

Brittany: You're an idiot Seville! And you wouldn't know musical talent if it bit you in the butt! I can't stand you! >_<

Me: BRITTANY! What about the way you looked at him in the trailer?!

Brittany: Erp! OO...Um...*blushes slightly* W-well...i-it's all just acting of course. <////< it is movie after all.

Me: So you have NO feelings for Alvin? Because in the early 80s it was quite clear that you two had a spark. Like when he was Captain Chipmunk and went to invite you to the dance and he wanted you to be his Valentine.

Brittany: *sighs* He was less annoying then....i don't know what happened to him. Now I wouldn't be caught dead dating him!

Me: Though the Trailers seem to suggest otherwise. He seemed quite infatuated with you. ^^ *to Elli and Jeannie* What about you girls?

Jeanette: Well, I um..d-definitely think Simon is quite handsome. ^^ And smart and kind. I mean, he's one of my best friends, I always have fun around him.

Me: And Jeanette, people are dying to see the episode SPLOOSH, where it's rumored you and Simon kiss, is that true?

Jeanette: O////O Um...w-well I...uh...*adjusts her glasses and blushes more, looks down*

Me: :giggle: Well, we won't embarass you more...And Eleanore, we know you're quite fond of Theodore. ^^ In The CHipmunk Adventure you kissed a doll of him. And in AATCM Meet the Wolfman he gave you a gorgeous pedant and saved you from the mean Werewolf.

Eleanore: <=] Well Theodore is quite shy, but sweet. And, I can't help but to love being around him too. ^^ He's one of the greatest guys ever and we always have a good time! ^////^ There could very well be sprks between us in the movie, but of course I'm not going to tell quite yet. ^_~ :giggle:

Me: Ah, well thank you girls! *to the Audience* That does it for Part 1 of my interview with the Chipettes. If you all have any questions you'd like me to ask, please respond in the comments below, and stay tuned for Part II!

Eleanore/Jeanette: Bye!

Brittany: *fixing her hair in a mini-mirror, not noticing the crowd* Hm, hm, hm...

Eleanore/Jeanette: Oh Brittany..."-_-
Me: '^^
